UAE Boosts Infrastructure with Pioneering Projects in 2024

New Terminals, Roads, Housing, and Drainage in Urban Upgrades

The UAE marked 2024 with transformative infrastructure projects driving economic growth and sustainability.

  • Barakah Plant Completion: The Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant is now fully operational, supplying 40TWh of clean electricity annually, meeting 25% of the UAE’s energy needs.

  • Water Security Milestones: Nine new dams and embankments with an 8 million cubic meter capacity were approved, alongside 9 km of water canals, boosting climate resilience.

  • Key Urban Developments:

    • Abu Dhabi allocated AED66 billion for 144 housing, education, and transport projects, including new bridges and traffic flow enhancements.

    • Dubai unveiled an AED128 billion terminal at Al Maktoum Airport, the AED30 billion "Tasreef" rainwater drainage network, and a Hessa Street bridge to cut travel times.

  • Sustainability & Green Upgrades: Sharjah has advanced irrigation and road networks, while other emirates have enhanced water distribution, logistics, and connectivity.
