The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has awarded a contract for the Oud Metha and Al Asayel Streets Development Project, part of the broader Sheikh Rashid Corridor initiative. This project follows the guidance of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and is overseen by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The project aims to connect Al Asayel Street to Al Khail Road via Al Nawras Street improving access to Oud Metha and Al Nawras Streets. According to RTA Director-General Mattar Al Tayer, these upgrades are vital for supporting Dubai's expected population growth.

Key features include four major intersections, 4,300 meters of bridges and 14 kilometers of new roads. By 2030, the project is expected to serve over 420,000 residents and increase Oud Metha Street's capacity from 10,400 to 15,600 vehicles per hour, cutting travel time from 20 minutes to just 5.
Major improvements will be made at critical intersections such as adding a left-turn lane at the Oud Metha and Sheikh Rashid intersection. The upgrades aim to enhance traffic flow to key areas like Zabeel and Al Jaddaf.
This project is part of the RTA’s ongoing efforts to improve Dubai's road networks promoting sustainable urban growth and better connectivity.
