Dubai's Dhs128 billion plan to transform Al Maktoum International Airport into a global aviation hub has captured the city's attention. Announced earlier this year, it will make the airport five times larger than Dubai International Airport (DXB), with a design aimed at handling 260 million passengers annually.
Austrian architecture firm Coop Himmelb(l)au revealed on September 5 about the blueprint for the new Dubai World Central. The design promises a spacious, light-filled terminal that enhances passenger movement and comfort. Features include streamlined check-in processes, cutting-edge security, and a harmonious blend of modern materials with traditional Dubai elements.

Sustainability is a key focus with plans to utilize natural light, renewable energy, and advanced environmental technologies. Airport will feature over 400 aircraft gates, five parallel runways, and five passenger terminals across 70 sq. km.
